Qualifications of the instructor: I have a degree in Geography from UC, Berkeley 1959, introduced to the sport of orienteering in England in 1970, founded the Bay Area Orienteering Club which brought orienteering to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1978, president or board member through 2004, retired in 1995 after a career with the National Park Service. Surveyed and and drawn maps and organized orienteering events of all types since 1978. Formed Scarborough Orienteering in 1996 as a provider of instruction, coaching and events for team building and corporate outings as well as equipment sales. As a competitor I have won many national orienteering age group championships and top annual rankings beginning in 1982 when I became first national champion from west of the St. Louis. Son James, a life-long orienteer and member of the 4-5 man US team at the World Championships 1993-2004, is an occasional instructor.
Instructional services include competitive navigation techniques and skills for orienteering and adventure racing. Primal Quest and other specific certification requirements are taught and certified. (Half day certification session $180 for 1-4 persons.)
